Our Community and Environmental Commitment

Community Commitment 

Crown continues to provide financial support to a broad spectrum of Victoria's community organisations, such as the Royal Children's Hospital and individuals effected by tragedy.  Donations have been given to medical research, aged care facilities, hundreds of schools and kindergartens, sporting groups, fire brigades, police and  cultural organisations.

The annual Million Dollar Lunch which Crown hosts donates money to organisations dealing with children effected by cancer and last year we helped fundraising efforts  such as the Shane Warne Foundation, Challenge, Kids under Cover, Reach, Alannah and Madeline Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Make a Wish and the Heartwell Foundation.

Crown staff also volunteer each Christmas to pack and deliver hampers through charities such as Open Family, Salvation Army and St Peter and Paul Church.

Environmental Commitment 

Crown made significant progress in its water conservation strategy in 2007 and also cut water consumption by nearly 20%.  Employees participated in a water-efficient shower head exchange program that was run in conjunction with South East water.  Crown was also re-certified as  a 'Waste Wise' business by Sustainability Victoria and more than 500 tonnes of food waste have been diverted to use as compost instead of being dumped as landfill. 

Planning has also now commenced for a staged reduction in Crown's Ecological Footprint.
